Fans knew him as Bayie, and in the 1978 Nations Cup final in Accra he scored both goals as Ghana beat Uganda 2-0 and kept the trophy for good. He won the Africa Cup of Nations twice, in 1978 and 1982, finished as the 1978 tournament's top scorer, and took Ghanaian league titles with Asante Kotoko in 1980 and 1981 alongside top-scorer awards in 1979 and 1981.
