The 1984 season brought him Ghana's footballer of the year award, won from the right side of an Accra Hearts of Oak team that took the national championship and then defended it a year later. Ghana Player of the Year in 1984, league titles with Hearts in 1984 and 1985, and an early place in the Black Meteors squad formed in 1983, a side he could serve at either full-back position.
