Still on Asante Kotoko's books and one of only four home-based players in the squad, he started at centre-back in Cologne on 17 June 2006 as Ghana beat the Czech Republic 2-0 for the country's first World Cup victory. He held the same place for the 2-1 win over the United States that carried Ghana into the round of 16, finishing with 13 caps and, later, a move to Russia with FC Saturn.
