He was on the pitch for almost all of the 2006 final in Cairo, holding Ivory Coast to nothing until Hassan Shehata replaced him in the second half of extra time; Egypt won the shootout 4-2. The Nations Cup came again in 2008, after the CAF Champions League with Al Ahly in 2001 and the CAF Super Cup in 2002; two Egyptian league titles, two Egypt Cups, Pan Arab Games gold in 2007 and 50 caps round it out.
