Saprissa named him El Mariachi after the family of musicians he came from, and he was in the side that beat Al-Ittihad 3-2 in Yokohama on 18 December 2005 to take third place at the Club World Championship. Earlier that year he won the CONCACAF Champions' Cup with the same club, and he added four Costa Rican championships and 48 caps worth nine goals, taking in the 2004 Copa América and the 2007 Gold Cup. Career record: 48 caps and 8 goals for Costa Rica; club career at OFI Crete, SK Brann, Club Necaxa.
