Colo-Colo fans of the early seventies remember him beside Leonel Herrera at centre-back, the pair who took the club to the 1973 Copa Libertadores final and lost it to Independiente in extra time of a Montevideo playoff. Chile took him to the 1974 World Cup, one stop among his twenty caps, and his medals include three league titles, two with Colo-Colo in 1970 and 1972 and one with Unión Española in 1977, plus the 1974 Copa Chile.
