They called him Toro, and on 29 June 1997 he stood in Bolivia's defence at the Hernando Siles as Brazil won the Copa América final 3-1 in front of a home crowd that had believed. Nine Bolivian league titles with Bolívar between 1991 and 2006 sit behind that runners-up medal, together with all three group games at the 1994 World Cup and 93 caps for six goals.
