Six minutes into the 2000 Intercontinental final he floated a 40-yard pass over Geremi for Palermo to finish, and late in the same win over Real Madrid he held the ball in the corner past Helguera, Geremi and McManaman. Boca took the Libertadores in 2000, 2001 and 2007, the last with Riquelme as top scorer and player of the tournament, and he captained Argentina to Olympic gold in Beijing.
