On 28 April 2019 Patrick Vieira moved his right-back to the left wing at the Allianz Riviera, and Atal answered with three goals in a 3-0 win over Guingamp, the first Ligue 1 hat-trick by an Algerian in 33 years. He won the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations with Algeria, an injury against Ivory Coast ending his tournament in the quarter-final, and later added two Qatar Stars League titles with Al Sadd.
