In Oviedo on 24 June 1982 he made it three against Chile before half time, and Algeria held on to win 3-2 at their first World Cup. He left the game with 19 goals in 51 caps between 1979 and 1986, two World Cups behind him, runner-up at the 1980 Africa Cup of Nations, third in 1984, and the French second division title won with Le Havre in 1985.
