At 1.68 metres he refused to be only a goalkeeper, scoring 14 league goals for Pumas in the 1989-90 season while still registered in the squad as a keeper, wearing the luminous kits he designed himself. Two Mexican league titles came with Pumas and Cruz Azul, plus the 1999 Confederations Cup and Gold Cups in 1993 and 1996 across 129 caps for Mexico.
