Bolivians knew him first as Chichi and then simply as El Maestro, a midfielder who scored 134 goals in 348 domestic league matches after turning professional with Destroyers at fifteen in 1973. CONMEBOL named him Bolivia's greatest footballer of all time in 2014, and he won the Bolivian championship twice with Bolívar, in 1982 and 1983, alongside 49 appearances for Bolivia between 1977 and 1989. Bolivia closed the 1963 South American Championship by beating Brazil 5-4 in La Paz on 31 March, and the tournament's best player award went to Blacut, who scored once in four appearances at inside forward. That title remains Bolivia's only continental championship; he also won the 1968 Bolivian league with Bolívar, collected 23 caps, and became the first South American signed by Bayern Munich, where injury limited him to friendlies.
