Two seasons after being voted the best player in South Africa's second tier in 2006, Modise was PSL Footballer of the Year, and Pirates supporters had already named him the General. He won that award again in 2009, lifted the CAF Champions League with Mamelodi Sundowns in 2016, added the CAF Super Cup, two league titles and the 2015 Nedbank Cup, and played at the 2010 World Cup at home among his 66 caps. Career record: 57 caps and 10 goals for South Africa; club career at Pietersburg Pillars, SuperSport United, Orlando Pirates.
