In León on 6 June 1970, Cubillas backheeled the ball into his path and Challe drove Peru's second past Morocco, in the country's first World Cup match for forty years. The Maestro reached the quarter-finals in Mexico and won 48 caps, took three Peruvian titles with Universitario and a fourth with Defensor Lima in 1973, then came back as a coach to make Universitario champions in 1999 and 2000.
