Wearing the Valenciennes armband at Metz on 16 February 2008, he was racially abused from the stands, and the French league went on to sanction the home club. A runners-up medal from the 2004 Africa Cup of Nations tops his 58 Morocco caps, ahead of the Greek title with Olympiacos in 2007, the Qatari championship with Lekhwiya in 2011, and the Intertoto Cup he won at Fulham in 2002.
