Jamaica called him Jair, and he carried the name through fourteen years in midfield, from a first cap in 1984 to a substitute's appearance against Japan in Lyon on 26 June 1998. Two Caribbean Cups came his way, in 1991 and 1998, and he played at the 1998 World Cup in France wearing number seven, took 84 caps for Jamaica and spent eight seasons in Israel with Maccabi Netanya and Hapoel Petah Tikva.
