On 6 June 1986 in Irapuato he scored Hungary's second in a 2-0 win over Canada, and forty years later that remains the last goal Hungary have scored at a World Cup. His free kick settled the 1988 German Cup final for Eintracht Frankfurt, and he won three Hungarian titles with Honvéd, the 1985 Hungarian Cup and the Greek Cup with Olympiacos in 1990, taking Hungarian Footballer of the Year in 1985 and the scoring title three years running.
