Two goals against Guinea in the quarter-final on 1 February 2015 took Ghana into the semi-finals, and the curling one was voted goal of the tournament while Atsu himself was named the best player of that Africa Cup of Nations. He won the Primeira Liga with Porto in 2013 and the Championship with Newcastle in 2017, finished runner-up at the 2015 Nations Cup, and made the team of the tournament in both 2015 and 2017.
