When the whistle went at Wembley on 30 July 1966, the lanky Leeds stopper they called the Giraffe sank to his knees and was folded into his brother Bobby's arms. He won the World Cup that afternoon, then the First Division title with Leeds in 1969, the FA Cup in 1972, two Inter-Cities Fairs Cups and the 1967 Footballer of the Year award, across 773 games for a single club.
