On 26 September 2009 he took aim from 35 yards against Gold Coast United and the ball tore into the top left corner past Jess Vanstrattan. That season made him the A-League's best player, the Johnny Warren Medal following the championship and premiership double he had won with Melbourne Victory in 2009; earlier came four Costa Rican titles and the 2004 CONCACAF Champions' Cup with Alajuelense, then 40 caps and the 2006 World Cup.
