A second yellow just before half-time against Mali on 3 February 2024 left Ivory Coast with ten men for the rest of a Nations Cup quarter-final they somehow won 2-1 in the 122nd minute. He was back in the side for the final eight days later, starting as Ivory Coast beat Nigeria in Abidjan, and that same season he won an unbeaten Bundesliga with Leverkusen and the German Cup as well, after two Belgian titles at Club Brugge.
