St James' Park had watched Arsenal go 4-0 up inside half an hour on 5 February 2011 when Tioté met a cleared corner on the volley from 25 yards, the 87th-minute goal that made Newcastle the first side in Premier League history to recover from four down. He won the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations with Ivory Coast, the Eredivisie with Twente in 2010, two Belgian titles with Anderlecht, and played at two World Cups in 55 caps.
