Four days after opening the scoring against Paraguay in Cochabamba, he put Bolivia ahead of Argentina in La Paz on 28 March 1963 with a goal after twelve minutes. The midfielder, who played his club football for Chaco Petrolero and Bolívar, came out of that unbeaten home campaign with the 1963 South American Championship, the only senior title Bolivia has ever won.
