Sydney, 16 November 2005: Aloisi struck the penalty that won the shootout against Uruguay, pulled his shirt over his head and ran the length of the touchline as 82,698 people came out of their seats, ending a 32-year absence from the World Cup. He scored again at the finals against Japan the following June, won an A-League Championship with Sydney FC and a Premiership with Central Coast, and left 27 goals in 55 caps.
