Eight of the goals in Australia's 31-0 win over American Samoa on 11 April 2001 were his, and that still only made him second best on the day behind Archie Thompson's thirteen. The tally is still the second highest by any player in an international since the First World War, and he left with the 2000 and 2004 OFC Nations Cups, third place at the 2001 Confederations Cup, Sydney FC's first A-League championship, and 20 goals in 30 caps.
