Bounedjah scored inside two minutes of the Cairo final on 19 July 2019, and Mandi spent the remaining 88 shepherding a one-goal lead past Senegal, booked in stoppage time. The Africa Cup of Nations that night was Algeria's first title in 29 years, and he has since passed 120 caps to become the most capped Algerian ever, played at the 2014 World Cup and returned to the squad for 2026, after eight years with Real Betis and Villarreal.
