Lucien Favre called him one of the best left feet in the game after he beat Mainz from 48 yards in December 2012, the kind of goal Venezuelans had learned to expect from the man they called Arangol. Nineteen years old at the 2017 under-20 World Cup, he made four saves against Uruguay in the semi-final and then stopped two penalties in the shootout to put Venezuela into a World Cup final for the first time. He finished that tournament as a runner-up with 506 minutes unbeaten, was voted Venezuela's best goalkeeper in 2016 and 2017, won the 2018 Superliga Colombiana with Millonarios and kept clean sheets against Peru and Brazil at the 2019 Copa América.
