Thiago Motta's red card at Camp Nou on 28 April 2010 turned Cameroon's finest striker into a right-back, and Eto'o spent the rest of that Champions League semi-final defending against the club that had sold him. Gianluigi Buffon watched him at Italia 90, decided to become a goalkeeper, and later named his first son Louis Thomas after the Cameroonian. He kept clean sheets against Peru and Poland in 1982 as Cameroon went out unbeaten on goals scored, won the Africa Cup of Nations in 1984, took African Footballer of the Year in 1979 and 1982, and reached the 1988 UEFA Cup final with Espanyol.
