Everything Australia needed in the Honduras second leg on 15 November 2017 came off his boot: a free kick that clipped the wall on 54 minutes and two penalties for a 3-1 win and a fourth straight World Cup. He captained Australia to the 2015 Asian Cup, scored 20 goals in 79 caps, two of them at World Cups, led Crystal Palace up through the 2013 playoff final and went up again with Aston Villa in 2019. Australia had never scored at a World Cup until 12 June 2006, when he forced one in against Japan with six minutes left, struck a second four minutes later and turned a 1-0 deficit into a 3-1 win.
