Stuttgart, 79 minutes gone on 22 June 2006, and Aloisi flicked on Bresciano's cross for Kewell to drive in the 2-2 with Croatia that carried Australia into a World Cup knockout round for the first time. He was the first Australian to win the European Cup, on the pitch for Liverpool's 2005 final in Istanbul, and added the 2006 FA Cup, PFA Young Player of the Year, and a Leeds semi-final run in the 2001 Champions League. Everything Australia needed in the Honduras second leg on 15 November 2017 came off his boot: a free kick that clipped the wall on 54 minutes and two penalties for a 3-1 win and a fourth straight World Cup. He captained Australia to the 2015 Asian Cup, scored 20 goals in 79 caps, two of them at World Cups, led Crystal Palace up through the 2013 playoff final and went up again with Aston Villa in 2019.
