The Olyroos went into their home Olympics in Sydney in September 2000 with Emerton, 21, wearing the armband. The UEFA Cup came in 2002, a booking against Inter keeping him out of the final Feyenoord won in their own stadium, and he added OFC Nations Cups in 2000 and 2004, Oceania Footballer of the Year in 2002, eight seasons at Blackburn and 95 caps with 20 goals. Stuttgart, 79 minutes gone on 22 June 2006, and Aloisi flicked on Bresciano's cross for Kewell to drive in the 2-2 with Croatia that carried Australia into a World Cup knockout round for the first time. He was the first Australian to win the European Cup, on the pitch for Liverpool's 2005 final in Istanbul, and added the 2006 FA Cup, PFA Young Player of the Year, and a Leeds semi-final run in the 2001 Champions League.
