Fourteen seconds into the UAE's group game against Bahrain in Canberra on 15 January 2015, Mabkhout had already scored, the fastest goal in Asian Cup history. He finished that tournament as top scorer with five goals, won the Gulf Cup in 2013, took silver at the 2010 Asian Games, and stands as the UAE's record scorer with 85 goals in 115 caps, with three league titles and 218 league goals for Al Jazira.
