In Sousse on 5 June 2011, he put three past Chad in a 5-0 Africa Cup qualifier, one of two hat-tricks he scored for Tunisia. Tunisia's record scorer with 36 goals in 84 caps, he appeared at four Africa Cup of Nations between 2008 and 2013, won the 2005 Intertoto Cup with Lens, and scored against France at the Stade de France in October 2008.
