A South African right back at St Gallen and Tenerife in the late nineties, Motaung had already played the 1996 final at FNB Stadium under Clive Barker. He won the Africa Cup of Nations that February, collected 49 caps between 1992 and 1997, played for Jomo Cosmos, Mamelodi Sundowns, Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates, and died in Newcastle on 16 August 2001 at the age of 31.
