Sent on for his Tottenham debut at Leicester in October 2003, he lashed the equaliser into the top corner, the only goal he ever scored for the club, and Frédéric Kanouté won it late. He won the South African league with Orlando Pirates in 2002-03, took PSL Rookie of the Year in 2002 and Player of the Season in 2003, and that June, aged 22, became the youngest captain South Africa has had, one of 45 caps.
