On 5 November 2011 in Jeonju, aged 21, he stepped up in the shootout against Jeonbuk and scored, one of the four that made Al Sadd the first Qatari club to win the Asian Champions League. Third place at the Club World Cup followed six weeks later, another penalty of his converted against Kashiwa Reysol, and for Qatar he took the 2014 Gulf Cup and played at three Asian Cups across 89 caps and six goals.
