Tijani Babangida

Ajax were level with Atlético Madrid deep into extra time at the Vicente Calderón in March 1997 when a deflected pass reached Babangida on the right of the box and he lifted it over the goalkeeper for 3-2 and a place in the semi-finals. Olympic gold in Atlanta in 1996 heads his honours, with the 1998 Eredivisie and two KNVB Cups at Ajax, and a brace against South Africa that carried Nigeria to the 2000 Nations Cup final. Career record: 36 caps and 5 goals for Nigeria; club career at Roda JC Kerkrade, VVV-Venlo, AFC Ajax.
