Luis de la Fuente

A stadium in Boca del Río carries his nickname, El Pirata, the port's tribute to a left-footed midfielder who scored seven goals in only nine internationals for Mexico. He won the Mexican league twice with Veracruz, in 1945-46 and 1949-50, took gold at the 1938 Central American and Caribbean Games, played club football in Spain, Paraguay and Argentina, and was later named to the IFFHS Concacaf team of all time. Career record: 9 caps and 7 goals for Mexico; club career at Club de Fútbol Aurrerá, Racing de Santander, Club Atlético Vélez Sarsfield.
