He held the national scoring record for roughly half a century and was the central figure of the ÍA side that dominated Icelandic football, and he is absent while eight players with fewer than 40 caps are present. Biggest achievements: Iceland's all-time top scorer with 17 goals in 33 caps, a record that stood until Eiður Guðjohnsen equalled it in 2006 and broke it in 2007; 6 Icelandic championships and 139 goals in 185 games for ÍA Akranes; later national-team coach.
