Alongside Traianos Dellas he shut out Thierry Henry and David Trezeguet in the 1-0 quarter-final win over holders France at Euro 2004, then started every remaining match as Greece conceded four goals in the whole tournament. That July night in Lisbon made him a European champion; he also won the Greek double with Olympiacos in 2006, two cups with AEK Athens, and the Cypriot title with APOEL.
