Xu Genbao

One training session in 2003 was enough: Xu watched Wu Lei, then eleven and turned away elsewhere for being too small, and took him into the Chongming academy he had founded two years earlier. His own playing career was cut short by the Cultural Revolution, leaving four caps and a 1974 league title with Bayi; as a coach he won championships with China B in 1989, Shanghai Shenhua in 1995 and Dalian Wanda in 1998.
