Known for an Olympic medal, the club titles of CSKA's peak years and the first Ballon d'Or nomination in Bulgarian history. Yakimov and Sokolov from the same generation are listed at 82; the man regarded as the best Bulgarian of the 1950s and 1960s alongside Asparuhov is not. Biggest achievements: Olympic bronze with Bulgaria at Melbourne 1956; 17 seasons and 304 matches for CSKA Sofia through their most dominant era; played the 1962 and 1966 World Cups; the first Bulgarian player nominated for the Ballon d'Or.
