For nineteen years the Algeria scoring record belonged to him, 36 goals in 80 games between 1990 and 2002, the last of them against Benin in January 2002 before Slimani finally passed the mark in October 2021. Two Algerian league titles with MC Oran in 1992 and 1993, top scorer in both seasons with 17 goals, the French league and cup double with Auxerre in 1996, and Algerian Player of the Year three years running from 1992. Career record: 87 caps and 36 goals for Algeria; club career at Mouloudia Club of Oran, AJ Auxerre, Al-Rayyan.
