Uzbekistan took him to five Asian Cups, the first in China in 2004 and the last in the Emirates in 2019, fifteen years and 106 caps between the two. He struck first when Uzbekistan met the hosts Qatar in Doha on 7 January 2011, a 2-0 win that opened a run to the Asian Cup semi-finals and set the tone for a career built on shooting from range.
