Paris, 10 July 1960: four minutes into the second half of the first European Nations' Cup final, the winger levelled against Yugoslavia and set the Soviet Union on the way to a 2-1 win in extra time. The 1960 European title came with a place in the team of the tournament, followed by three World Cups with the USSR and Soviet league titles at Torpedo Moscow in 1960 and Dinamo Tbilisi in 1964. Career record: 48 caps and 11 goals for Georgia; club career at FC Volga Nizhny Novgorod, FC Torpedo Moscow, FC Dinamo Tbilisi; honours include 2× Hall of Fame.
