Eight minutes into the Jeonju round of 16 against Mexico on 17 June 2002, he carried the ball down the right, cut it back across the six-yard box and left Brian McBride the finish that started Dos a Cero. He was named to the 2002 World Cup All-Star team, the first American chosen, won the Scottish league and cup double with Rangers in 2000, and captained the United States across four World Cups and 112 caps.
