They called him a nemzet bombázója, the nation's bomber, and on 31 May 1962 in Rancagua he proved it, hammering one in from twenty metres to open the scoring as Hungary beat England 2-1. Fifty-one goals in 72 internationals, five times the Hungarian league's top scorer, bronze at the 1964 European Nations' Cup, two championships with Honvéd in 1954 and 1955, and the Magyar Kupa in 1964.
