At the Morumbí in June 2000 he beat out penalties from Faustino Asprilla and Roque Júnior to take the Copa Libertadores back to Boca Juniors after twenty-three years, and was named the final's best player. The 2001 Copa América followed on home soil, where Colombia won every match without conceding a goal, alongside a second Libertadores in 2001, the Intercontinental Cup against Real Madrid in 2000 and three Argentine league titles.
