Mostar called him the Prince of the Neretva, and on 18 June 1974 he scored three times as Yugoslavia beat Zaire 9-0, still the only World Cup hat-trick by a Yugoslav. Twenty-nine goals in thirty-seven internationals, Yugoslav Footballer of the Year in 1972, two Greek championships and the 1978 cup with AEK Athens, and top-scorer crowns in both countries.
